Serving Amateur Radio In North Western Wisconsin, the Barron County Amateur Radio Association is a local group of hams that enjoy the hobby of amateur radio. The Club’s mission is to: advance general interest and knowledge of amateur radio, promote cooperation and exchange of information between members, conduct club programs, and provide public service support for community activities. The Barron County Amateur Radio Association Inc. (BCARA) is an ARRL affiliated and located in Barron, Wisconsin.
Green County Amateur Radio SKYWARN® is a group of local amateur radio operators who have been trained in severe weather spotting by the National Weather Service. Our primary purpose is to observe incoming storm cells for early detection of the storm becoming severe for the public’s safety. Our observation reports (severe only) are then passed through local amateur radio weather networks directly to the National Weather Service office in Milwaukee/Sullivan to help provide early severe weather warnings to the public.
The MidWest Severe Storm Tracking Response Center (MidWest SSTRC, Inc.) is comprised of members whose primary purpose is to assist in providing early detection of severe weather. We communicate this critical information to government officials, other recognized agencies and organizations including the National Weather Service allowing for timely public severe weather warnings and providing emergency responses as appropriate. MidWest SSTRC Inc. endeavors to assist in any way it can in the protection of life and property from any threat, be it natural or man made.
The Milwaukee Area Skywarn Association (MASA) [pronounced “May-sah”], established in 1992, and incorporated in 1995 is a Wisconsin registered non-profit and I-R-S 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation operated for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. Our mission is to lessen the burden of the National Weather Service (NWS) essential severe weather training and SKYWARN programs. To do this MASA has established a long and strong working relationship with the NWS by providing on-going severe weather awareness and training to all interested parties.
The Polk County Amateur Radio Association (PCARA) is a general interest ham radio club. We operate a VHF FM – System Fusion repeater on 147.195 (+600 KHz) pl tone 110.9 and a UHF FM – System Fusion repeater on 443.725 (+5MHz) pl tone 110.9. Our VHF repeater allows for Echolink connections, node 991104. All licensed amateurs are welcome. The repeaters are located in the central part of Polk County, WI near the town of Balsam Lake.
The PCARA activates a SKYWARN® net when severe weather approaches our area. Spotter reports are relayed to the National Weather Service.
